South African President Zuma
Jacob Zuma has been the president of South Africa for eight years already. During his childhood, he wasn't able to have formal education. When he was only five years old, his father who was a policeman, died. He had to support his mother who was a domestic worker as well. Since he had no formal education, he had to teach himself how to read and write. It is also a remarkable thing that he learned other languages like French, Russian, and Portuguese among others.
During his teen years, he was already engaging in politics. He became a member of the South African communist party and this was when he went through military training in the Soviet Union. He was imprisoned for ten years for conspiring to overthrow the apartheid government. He also spent time in Robben Island with Nelson Mandela. He also had some issues with allegations involving corruption.
Despite this, he continues to have a lot of support. Most of this coming from the left wing. Zuma has referred to himself as a socialist. He remained a powerful political figure due to his supporters. He still had a high position in the national congress. Later on, this would make him a favor for the post of president in the African national congress. Later on he would say that he would only serve one term as president.
He has four wives and around twenty one children. He has been considered as a polygamist and also been married six times. Jacob Zuma had a plan to improve healthcare and he has helped people with aids most especially. This has led to the nation becoming healthier and also having a longer life expectancy.
Tourism in South Africa has also increased because of Jacob Zuma. The country has also been featured a lot in global media and this is all because of the work he has done. He has promoted the country and made it more interesting and appealing to others. The economy has also become stable because of Zuma. He has made investments on infrastructure in order to encourage the growth of the economy.
